On Sunday, April 13, the Syracuse University Oratorio Society will perform as special guests with the Syracuse Symphony Orchestra (SSO) in Haydn's "Mass in Time of War," as part of the final performance in the SSO's 2007-08 Stained Glass Series. The concert will be held at 3 p.m. at Most Holy Rosary Church, 111 Roberts Ave., Syracuse.
SSO Music Director Daniel Hege will conduct Telemann's Concerto in C major, Bach's Orchestral Suite No. 2 in B minor and Haydn's dramatic Mass in C major (Mass in Time of War). The concert features guest artist and recorder virtuoso Michala Petri, soprano Lianne Coble, mezzo-soprano Quinn Patrick, tenor Robert Allen and bass-baritone Timothy LeFebvre. The performance is sponsored by Sweet-Woods Memorials and O'Connor Memorials.

Under the direction of Elisa Macedo Dekaney, faculty member in the College of Visual and Performing Arts, the SU Oratorio Society is a mixed vocal ensemble composed of SU students, faculty, staff and community members who enrich the Syracuse community through education and development of choral music. Founded in 1975, the choir specializes in choral works from the Renaissance to the present, and its repertoire includes international, multicultural and commissioned works. The ensemble rehearses at Crouse College, collaborates with the SSO, and performs at locations throughout the Syracuse community.
