SU law students this year finished with one of the best records in the
College of Law's trial team history. On March 29, third-year students Olatokunbo Olaniyan and Rafiel D. Warfield and second-year student Jennifer Brooks were semi-finalists in the National Trial Competition in Austin, Texas. In addition, the College of Law finished with the best record of New York state law schools and won the prestigious New York State Bar Association Tiffany Cup and a $5,000 scholarship for the college.

"We knew our evidence, we knew the law, and we knew our case. The level of competition was intense," says Warfield, who is also College of Law Student Senate president. "I'd like to thank our coaches and evaluators who spent so much time training us over the past two years. It was a tremendous learning experience."

The nationwide tournament hosted more than 300 teams and was sponsored by the Texas Young Lawyers Association.

Joanne Van Dyke L'87, Joe Cote L'87, Brenton Dadey L'07 and Michelle Whitton-Cowan L'07 served as coaches for the students.
