In keeping with its strong traditions,
Syracuse Law Review will host its annual Law Review Banquet on April 25 and honor David A. Gordon L'86 with its Law Review Alumni Achievement Award.
Gordon is the managing partner of the New York office of one of the world's largest law firms, Latham & Watkins LLP. Gordon's practice focuses primarily in the representation of banks, financial institutions and private companies in connection with all phases of the development, financing, restructuring, acquisition and sale of energy, telecommunications, and other infrastructure and industrial projects. Gordon also actively practices in mergers & acquisitions involving assets encumbered by project financing.
Gordon has been named one of the 45 "elite" lawyers in the United States under age 45 by The American Lawyer (2003) and is recognized as one of the top project finance lawyers in the United States by Chamber's Global: The World's Leading Lawyers.
Now in its 58th year, Syracuse Law Review continues to challenge students through an intense legal research and writing program.
"Our staff has done a tremendous job of enhancing the law review's reputation as one of the nation's pre-eminent journals of legal scholarship by publishing top-tier scholars like Deborah Rhode and Richard Delgado," says third-year law student Francesco P. Trapani, who is also editor in chief. "Our winter book is a one-of-a-kind issue that provides several perspectives on lawyer happiness and its effect on the practice of law."
In addition, Law Review partnered with the
Institute for the Study of Judiciary, Politics, and the Media to host a live symposium titled "Creators vs. Consumers: The Rhetoric, Reality and Reformation of Intellectual Property Law Policy." The symposium featured several scholars, including Board of Advisors Professor of Law Lisa A. Dolak L'88, who addressed major issues concerning intellectual property law.
Gordon holds a B.A. degree from Cornell University and a J.D. degree from Syracuse University College of Law, where he graduated first in his class. He was notes & comments editor of the Syracuse Law Review, a member of the Order of the Coif, and an Honor Court judge.
