The Syracuse University Brass Ensemble (SUBE) will perform popular movie themes and present a surprise viewing as part of its "Silver Screen Spectacular" on Sunday, March 16, at 3 p.m. at the restored Palace Theatre, 2384 James St., Syracuse. Tickets are $5 at the door, with senior and family discounts available.
The program includes the glitzy Hollywood-style overture "It's Showtime," "Col. Bogey March" from the film "The Bridge on the River Kwai," and music from "Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom," "The Magnificent Seven," "Pirates of the Caribbean," "The Wizard of Oz" and "The Keystone Cops."
The SUBE is an award-winning 30-piece brass band composed of SU faculty, staff, students and alumni and accomplished musicians from surrounding communities. The ensemble performs at official SU events and presents recitals on the SU campus and in the local region throughout the year. Administered by The College of Arts and Sciences, the SUBE performs under the direction of SU professor James Spencer.
