In January, the U.S. Senate Finance Committee, led by Chairman Max Baucus (D-MT) and Ranking Member Charles Grassley (R-IA), contacted 136 colleges and universities with endowment assets of $500 million or more and requested that they provide information on how their endowments are managed and tuition and financial aid policies are set.
Syracuse University was among the higher education institutions that received the committee's request. On Feb. 28, SU Chancellor and President Nancy Cantor and SU Board of Trustees Chair John Couri provided a detailed response to the committee.
