The Syracuse Law School women's basketball team this past weekend displaced the three-time champion UConn Law Huskies as champions of the annual Western New England College (WNEC) northeastern law schools basketball tournament. The College of Law sent two student teams to the tournament in Springfield, Mass. -- and one brought home the championship trophy. The women's team went undefeated, beating every other team by no less than 30 points.

Members of the team were Clare Eshenour, Laura Gagnon, Laura Jacque, Sarah Marquez, Jessica Monaco, Aimee Paquette, Meghan Ruesch and Leah Witmer.

The men's team made a respectable quarterfinal finish in the tournament. Members of the team were Fred McRoberts, Vivek Thiagarajan, Omar Qudrat, Andrew Lizotte, Jon Terracciano, Shane Butland, Robert Zaruta, Ross Alexander, Landers Niven and Yagnesh Patel.

The teams were coached by Professor Peter Bell, Christopher Bell, Mary Helen McNeal and John Gross.

The WNEC Tournament Trophy and program will appear in the law school trophy case alongside the Intragraduate School Intramural Trophy and Flag Football Trophy.
