Terry Amsler, director of the California-based Institute for Local Government's Collaborative Governance Initiative and an expert in designing and facilitating participative processes, will speak at the Maxwell School on Friday, Feb. 29. The Collaborative Governance Initiative supports informed, effective civic engagement in public decision making.
Amsler will discuss the growing number of community engagement options: seeking input on public policy decisions; building support and commitment; and engaging the creativity of community members. Local governments can benefit from citizens' input on a variety of issues: land use planning, housing, safety, budgeting, public services and youth involvement.
The lecture will be held in Room 204 of Maxwell Hall from noon-1:30 p.m. Light refreshments will be served. Parking is available in the Irving Garage.
The event is sponsored by the Program on the Analysis and Resolution of Conflicts at the Maxwell School.
