Andrew Mapley, 18, a first-year information management and technology major in Syracuse University's School of Information Studies, died Saturday morning (Jan. 26) in a two-car accident near his home in Cato, N.Y.
"I was saddened to hear the tragic news about Andrew Mapley," says SU Chancellor and President Nancy Cantor. "It is especially difficult to lose someone who is so young and vibrant. Our thoughts are with Andrew's family and friends, and the School of Information Studies community."
"I and the entire iSchool are deeply saddened by the tragic death of our student Andrew. Our hearts and prayers go out to the Mapley family and Andrew's longtime friends," says School of Information Studies Interim Dean Elizabeth D. Liddy. "We sorely regret that we will not have the opportunity we would have had to encircle Andrew within our caring iSchool student body."
