The National Student Employment Association (NSEA) has designated the week of April 13-19 as National Student Employment Week. At Syracuse University, to coincide with this week of recognition for student employees, the Student Employee of the Year Reception will be held on April 17 from 3-5 p.m. in the Hildegarde and J. Myer Schine Student Center. The purpose of this week is to:

  • enhance awareness of student employment and its important role in the higher education experience;
  • recognize students who perform outstanding work while attending college; and
  • thank the departments who hire students for part-time positions and make SU's student employment program such a success.

As part of this program, NSEA coordinates a Student Employee of the Year competition. The process begins at the institutional level; nominations are now being sought for SU's Student Employee of the year. Once selected, SU's Student Employee of the Year will be nominated for regional and national consideration.

The nomination form can be found on the Student Employment Services website
at http://hrses.syr.edu/forms/SEOTY_Nomination_08.doc. Nominations must be submitted no later than Feb. 8, by e-mail only. Nominations received after that date will not be considered for the award; however, the student will receive recognition for being nominated.

Employers may nominate as many students as they like, but only one nominator per student is permissible in each department. All nominees and each nominator will be invited to the April 17 recognition reception at the Schine Student Center.
