Select students in the Whitman School of Management at Syracuse University will receive a frontline perspective of the New York Mercantile Exchange (NYMEX) on Feb. 1 during the David Greenberg Spring 2008 NYC Financial Field Trip. The students will also meet with Martin J. Whitman '49, founder and co-chief investment officer of Third Avenue Management, for whom the school is named.
NYMEX is the world's largest physical commodity futures exchange and the pre-eminent training forum for energy and precious metals. Students will observe trading floor operations, attend an informational seminar about the industry, and participate in a simulated trading experience on the trading floor.
The trip is sponsored by David Greenberg '86, president of Sterling Commodities Corp. The trip is free of charge to the students.
