Dance and musical groups from Syracuse University will perform for students at the Bellevue Academy on Wednesday, Dec. 5, at 12:45 p.m. Sixth-, seventh- and eighth-graders at the school will attend performances by SU's Rumba Cubana, La L.U.C.H.A. and the Brazilian Drum Group. They will also discuss what it means to be a Latino and view excerpts from the video, "Celebrating Latinos in CNY."
"We are so proud to be a part of celebrating various cultural heritages in our community," says James K. Duah-Agyeman, director of the Office of Multicultural Affairs and Syracuse University's chief diversity officer. "This event is a wonderful opportunity for our young people to enjoy and express the richness of Latino cultures. I congratulate Bellevue Academy on teaming up with Syracuse in celebrating Latinos in Central New York."
The event will be hosted by Hilda R. Martinez, assistant director for mentoring services in the Office of Multicultural Affairs at SU, and Bellevue Academy teacher Daniel Borges. For more information, contact Brian Griffith at 435-4486.
