esblust@syr.eduThe Department of Communication and Rhetorical Studies in Syracuse University's College of Visual and Performing Arts will present the talk "A Different Democracy: Conscientious Objectors in Japanese American Incarceration Films" with Kent Ono from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign (UIUC) on Friday, Nov. 30, at 1:30 p.m. in Room 500 of the Hall of Languages.
Ono is a faculty member in UIUC's Institute of Communications Research and is a past director of its Asian American studies program. His recent books include "Asian American Studies after Critical Mass" (Wiley, 2004) and "Shifting Borders: Rhetoric, Immigration, and California's 'Proposition 187'" (Temple University Press, 2002).
