The Whitman School of Management at Syracuse University will host the 56th Annual Harry E. Salzberg Memorial Program on Wednesday, Nov. 14, at 2:30 p.m. in Lender Auditorium in the Whitman School building. This year's recipient of the Salzberg Medallion is William G. "Gus" Pagonis, retired president of Sears Logistics Services and retired senior vice president for supply chain for Sears, Roebuck and Co.
"Each year, the Whitman School is honored to present an eminent person from the field of supply chain with the Salzberg Medallion," says Whitman School Dean Melvin T. Stith. "Whitman students interested in careers in supply chain are exceptionally pleased to have the opportunity to network with the professionals we bring in for the program and to learn from their successes."
Pagonis is widely recognized for his logistical achievements, particularly during Desert Shield/Storm. After successfully masterminding logistics for the Gulf War and winning high praise from Gen. Norman Schwarzkopf, Pagonis left the U.S. Army in 1993 and joined Sears.
The day begins Nov. 14 with a Supply Chain Career Fair, starting at 9:30 a.m. in the Flaum Grand Hall. More than 40 companies are scheduled to attend; the Supply Chain Career Fair is open to all students interested in careers in supply chain.
