In a public address Thursday at Syracuse University's Whitman School of Management, Gov. Eliot Spitzer unveiled his "City-by-City" economic development plan for Syracuse and the Central New York region. During his remarks, Spitzer announced that he and the state Assembly -- led by support from Assemblyman William Magnarelli -- are committing $20 million in new state funding for the Connective Corridor.
SU and the City of Syracuse are lead partners in the Connective Corridor, which is a 1?-mile signature strip of urban landscape connecting the creative assets of the University Hill with downtown Syracuse. The Corridor showcases galleries; museums; theaters; classical, jazz and blues music; ethnic and cultural festivals; and nightlife. It will transform public spaces along the route into vibrant social spaces -- pocket parks -- where students and young entrepreneurs can test their creative ideas in new and real ways.
