The Syracuse University Women's Choir, under the direction of Barbara M. Tagg, faculty member in the Rose, Jules R. and Stanford S. Setnor School of Music in the College of Visual and Performing Arts, will host the Sixth Annual Invitational Women's Choir Festival on Saturday, Nov. 3, at the Setnor School. The daylong event of rehearsals and master classes will culminate in a free public concert at 2 p.m. in the Rose and Jules R. Setnor Auditorium in Crouse College. Parking is available in the Irving Garage.
The invited choir for the festival is the Homer High School Women's Choir under the direction of Cara K-B McLaughlin. Marian Dolan of Naples, Fla., is guest conductor. Internationally known for her multicultural master classes, Dolan will conduct "Kyrie" from Glenn McClure's "Caribbean Mass." McClure, the festival's composer-in-residence, will play steel drum for the performance with additional percussion by Setnor faculty member Joshua Dekaney.
The public concert will feature the participating choirs individually and a combined choir of more than 100 singers. Concert repertoire will include selections by Stephen Paulus, Ruth Watson Henderson, Moses Hogan and Harri Wessman.
