Students engaged in service through Hendricks Chapel's Office of Community Engagement and Integrative Learning will participate in the annual CROP Walk Against Hunger on Sunday, Oct. 14.
The CROP Walk, facilitated around the United States by Church World Service, raises money and awareness about hunger and food insecurity in the United States and around the world. Students can register to participate, either as individuals or in groups,
at http://hendricks.syr.edu/events/cropwalk2007.html. Financial contributions are not required to walk, but a canned food to donate to a local food pantry is requested. Persons who would like to support a walker can mail or drop off donations at Hendricks Chapel.
Participants will gear up for the walk by hearing from Ariik Thon Nyok (also known as Paul Ariik, one of the Lost Boys of the Sudan, who is studying at SU through University College's Bachelor of Professional Studies Program. Nyok will lead participants in conversation at 12:30 p.m. that day in Hendricks Chapel about the critical role of events such as the CROP Walk in supporting hungry individuals around the world. All are welcome to attend.
