Syracuse University Library and The College of Arts and Sciences will jointly sponsor a concert by the Cassatt String Quartet on Monday, Oct. 29, at 7 p.m. in the Peter Graham Scholarly Commons on the first floor of E.S. Bird Library. The concert is free and open to the public; visitor parking is available in the Marion lot.
The program will feature Mozart's Quartet in C Major, K. 155 and Dan Welcher's Harbor Music and Quartet in F Major by Ravel. A reception will follow in the Hillyer Room on the sixth floor.
Based in New York City, the Cassatt recently celebrated its 20th anniversary and is quartet-in-residence at the College of Visual and Performing Arts' Setnor School of Music. The Cassatt performs internationally and has appeared at Alice Tully Hall and Carnegie Hall's Weill Recital Hall in New York City; the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts and the Library of Congress in Washington, D.C.; the Theatre des Champs-Elysees in Paris; and Maeda Hall in Tokyo.
The Cassatt won Chamber Music America/ ASCAP Awards for Adventurous Programming and has been named three times by The New Yorker magazine for its "Best of..." CD selections.
