Syracuse University Parking and Transit Services employees today voted in favor of joining the Teamsters Union by a margin of 24 to 20.

A total of 45 staff members -- full-time and regular part-time employees in the Parking and Transit Services Department who are parking lot attendants, parking control officers, data coordinators and office coordinators -- were eligible to vote. Balloting took place from 8-11 a.m. in Hendricks Chapel.

Absent timely objections to the conduct of the election, the union will be certified by the National Labor Relations Board (NLRB) as the bargaining representative of the eligible Parking and Transit Services staff. At such time as the results are certified, the University will respect the results and work with the union to negotiate the collective bargaining agreement.
