The Syracuse University Students in Free Enterprise (SIFE) team is hosting the fifth annual "Reds, Whites and the Blues" fundraiser on Friday, Sept. 28, from 6-9 p.m. at Bellevue Country Club to raise funds for the Chadwick Residence.
The Chadwick Residence provides transitional housing and services for women and their children on Syracuse's South Side. Most of the residents come from rehabilitation centers and homeless shelters; the mission of the Chadwick Residence is to empower this group to develop their knowledge and skills in order to increase their self-sufficiency.
"The SU SIFE team is committed to helping the women of Chadwick Residence improve their lives and the lives of their children," says Amanda Nicholson, assistant professor of retail management and the SIFE faculty advisor. "The SIFE team has been working weekly for the last two years with the residents on GED tutoring, life skills training, financial management, basic computer literacy and many other topics. This fundraiser is another way to support the great work of the Chadwick Residence."
The "Reds, Whites and the Blues" benefit is the only fundraiser that the Chadwick Residence holds each year. The event will feature 12 tables laden with silent auction items such as sports memorabilia, pottery, jewelry and more, and jazz and blues musical entertainment by the Brad Batz Group.
Tickets are $60 for one and $110 for two. Refreshments will be served. For more information, call the Chadwick Residence at (315) 476-6554.
