Joseph Laquatra, Hazel E. Reed Human Ecology Extension Professor in Family Policy at the Department of Design and Environmental Analysis at Cornell University, will speak Thursday, Sept. 13, from 3-5 p.m. at the Genesee Grande Hotel in Syracuse as part of the Research and Technology Forums series sponsored by the Syracuse Center of Excellence in Environmental and Energy Systems Office for Industry Collaboration.
Laquatra will speak on "Residential Moisture Control." Builders and remodelers, along with the general public, are encouraged to attend.
"Excess moisture in homes contributes to structural decay and the presence of biological pollutants that include allergens and asthma triggers," Laquatra explains. "This seminar will cover internal and external sources of moisture in homes, relative humidity control measures, elements of the building envelope that prevent moisture intrusion, and ventilation options."
