Rob Pusch, a doctoral candidate in instructional design, development and evaluation in Syracuse University's School of Education, will present "Seeking Community: The Stories of College Students Who Are Transgender and Their Search for Community and Themselves" at 4 p.m. April 18 in the conference room of the Center for the Support of Teaching and Learning, located at 400 Ostrom Ave.
Pusch's dissertation is a qualitative research study exploring the stories of transgender college students. The lecture is part of the "Out and About Our Community Lecture Series" sponsored by the University's Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender (LGBT) Resource Center. This lecture series was designed to promote dialogue and understanding of the experiences of LGBT people.
"This presentation that explores the experiences of transgender college students concludes this semester's lecture series that has educated our campus and surrounding community about some of the issues confronting LGBT people today," says Barry L. Wells, senior vice president and dean of student affairs. "This lecture series has offered a valuable educational experience for students, faculty and staff and we look forward to continuing it over the coming semesters with a variety of topics, speakers and participation."
Pusch is a graduate assistant with the University's Project Advance team, and was previously a project manager at the Center for the Support of Teaching and Learning. He received bachelor's and master's degrees in chemistry from Illinois Benedictine College and the University of Colorado at Boulder, respectively.
