Muslim and Jewish students at Syracuse University will come together for a candlelight vigil encouraging peace in the Middle East, Wednesday, April 10, at 6 p.m. on the steps of Hendricks Chapel.

The vigil-presented by the Muslim Student Association, Hillel and Hendricks Chapel-will feature oral presentations and a walk around the Quad. It is expected to last no more than an hour.

The Rev. Thomas V. Wolfe, dean of Hendricks Chapel, will begin the event with opening remarks and a personal statement about peace. Also speaking will be Imam Ahmed Kobeisy from the Islamic Society of Central New York; Scott Fein, Hillel coordinator of Jewish student life; and two SU students each from the Muslim Student Association and Hillel.

"This is an opportunity for us to put a human face on the loss of life in the Middle East and to encourage resolution of the violence," says Dean Wolfe.
