Local group names iSchool's Jeffrey Rubin Computer Professional of Year

Jeffrey Rubin, a senior instructor in Syracuse University's School of Information Studies (iSchool) and president of Internet Consulting Services (ICS), has been named 2006 Computer Professional of Year by the Syracuse Chapter of the Association for Computing Machinery (ACM).


Winners of the award have significantly influenced the field of information technology and demonstrated personal growth and professional achievement in areas such as innovation, community service, professional development, promotion of the technology field, mentoring and publishing.


Rubin will receive the award at the Computer Professional of the Year recognition dinner to be held Wednesday, May 9, at 5:30 p.m. at the Holiday Inn on Carrier Circle. He will deliver a speech at the ceremony.


As an instructor at the iSchool and president of ICS, Rubin has been integrating Internet solutions since the Internet exploded onto the scene and is passionate about teaching both in the classroom and in corporate boardrooms. His company has worked on business strategies and commercial Internet applications for major firms and organizations, including Lucent Technologies, Ericsson, Sony Music, National Geographic and the IEEE. His company also assists in the maintenance of the iSchool's website.
