WISE to present Norma Slepecky Memorial Lecture, career panel on Friday

The Women in Science and Engineering (WISE) Program will sponsor the Norma Slepecky Memorial Lecture and award the Norma Slepecky Prize for Undergraduate Research on Friday, April 20.


The event will be held from 11:30 a.m.-1 p.m. in the Peter Graham Scholarly Commons in E.S. Bird Library. Judy Vance, program director at the National Science Foundation, professor of mechanical engineering at Iowa State University and faculty fellow at the Virtual Reality Applications Center, will speak on "Do You Know Where You Are Going?" The L.C. Smith College of Engineering and Computer Science and The College of Arts and Sciences have organized the event.


Later in the afternoon, the WISE Program, in collaboration with the Future Professoriate Program at the Graduate School and the Center for Career Services, will present a panel discussion on "Negotiating Your Future II: Self-Assessment and Professional Planning," from 4-6 p.m. in Room 369 of Link Hall. Those attending will have an opportunity to interact with women engineers and scientists from Lockheed Martin, Gentex Corp. and other organizations to learn about options after graduation and to practice negotiation skills.
