Windjammer, Syracuse University's vocal jazz ensemble, will perform at 8 p.m. April 23 in the Rose and Jules R. Setnor Auditorium in SU's Crouse College. The concert, part of the Setnor Tuesday Night Concert Series, is free and open to the public.
Under the direction of Tricia Oney, adjunct instructor in the Rose, Jules R. and Stanford S. Setnor School of Music, College of Visual and Performing Arts, the ensemble will perform a variety of pieces, including Paul Simon's "Bridge Over Troubled Water," Lynn Carey's "Jim, Jam, Jump," Duke Ellington's "Satin Doll," and Jerome Kern's "The Way You Look Tonight."
Windjammer is a 12-member mixed vocal group with rhythm section that has performed throughout the northeast in jazz festivals, at schools and colleges, and in clubs and restaurants. The group has also been featured on television and radio broadcasts. Founded almost 20 years ago, the Windjammer brings a warm mix of sound to audiences of all ages through a variety of styles of performance, including big band, bop, swing, Latin, blues and a cappella ballads.
