The Visiting Artist and Speakers Program in the School of Art and Design in Syracuse University's College of Visual and Performing Arts will present a lecture by New York City-based artist Stephen Talasnik on Tuesday, April 17, at 7:30 p.m. in Maxwell Auditorium. Parking is available in Irving Garage.
Talasnik's work is inspired by his interests in such areas as engineering, architecture, product and graphic design, and the aesthetics of invention. A native of Philadelphia, he earned a master of fine arts degree from Temple University's Tyler School of Art. He also studied in Rome and lived in Tokyo, two cities that further influenced his work.
Talasnik's drawings and sculpture have been acquired by numerous international museum collections, including the Albertina in Vienna, the British Museum in London, the Stedelijk Museum in Amsterdam, the National Gallery of Art in Washington, D.C., and the State Museum of Berlin. He is represented by Marlborough Gallery in New York City.
