A team of students from Syracuse University's College of Law participated in the 32nd annual Irving R. Kaufman Memorial Securities Law Moot Court Competition, held March 9-11 at Fordham University School of Law. The team -- composed of SU law students Jeremy Dorfman, Martin Ruhaak and Aaron Tidman -- placed third for Petitioner Brief.
The team was coached by SU law professor Margaret Harding. "The students wrote an excellent brief and admirably represented the College of Law at the competition," she says.
Prepared and organized annually by the Fordham University School of Law Moot Court Board, the Kaufman Competition examines legal issues in federal securities law. The competition is held in honor of the late Irving R. Kaufman, judge of the United States Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit and a Fordham alumnus.
The Kaufman Competition is limited to 32 teams. Each school is permitted to enter two teams, subject to availability. Any ABA-accredited law school is eligible to compete.
