LaMonica Falkquay, a student in Syracuse University's S.I. Newhouse School of Public Communications and College of Arts and Sciences, and a native of Clay, N.Y., has been honored as part of the American Advertising Federation's Most Promising Minority Students (MPMS) Program. Falkquay is a dual advertising and Spanish major.

Falkquay and other honorees from colleges and universities across the country will attend a special program Feb. 6-8 at the New York Athletic Club in New York City, where they will meet with top advertising, media and agency companies, and attend an awards luncheon Feb. 7. They will also be featured in an upcoming issue of Advertising Age. Sue Westcott Alessandri, assistant professor of advertising and public relations in the Newhouse School, nominated Falkquay for the honor.

"LaMonica is one of the most intelligent and poised students I've taught at the Newhouse School," Alessandri says. "She showed promise early on. I nominated her because she embodies what this recognition is about: She is ambitious and eager to make a difference in the advertising industry. I believe she has a bright future."

The MPMS Program, now in its 11th year, is the advertising industry's largest and most comprehensive diversity hiring solution addressing the issue of a lack of multiculturalism in the advertising industry.
