Syracuse University's College of Visual and Performing Arts, School of Art and Design will present "Signature," the annual fashion show, at 12:30 p.m. April 18 and 7:30 p.m. April 19 in the Schine Student Center's Goldstein Auditorium.

Senior fashion design majors chose the theme "Signature" because they all believe that their different signature styles are represented by the collections they will present during the show. The 17 seniors will have from three to five minutes to present their collections.
The program will also feature pieces from fashion design and textile students ranging from freshmen to seniors, as well as pieces from graduate students. The students submitted the pieces to a panel of fashion design faculty, who judged the work for construction, creativity and design.
Just as the senior fashion design students are working hard to prepare and give last minute touches to their designs for the big day, other students are working behind the scene to make the upcoming event the most memorable night ever.
"This show should be a good one," says Rachel Oster, chair of the fashion show. "We have a diverse class, and it is also one of the smaller ones, so there has been more time to cultivate the group." Oster is one of the 17 seniors who will present their collections during the show. Other students are working on specific parts of the show, such as programs, model recruitment, catering, tickets, music and choreography, and ad sales.
Several faculty members also play a big part in the fashion show by helping and supporting the seniors. The faculty members include Todd Conover, who is working with the senior students; Janith Wright, who is helping out back stage; Jeffrey Mayer, who handles any problems that come up; and Carmel Nicoletti, who is the show's choreographer.
This is the first year the fashion design program has been part of the School of Art and Design in the College of Visual and Performing Arts School. The annual fashion show was previously presented by the former College for Human Development.
