Tazim R. Kassam, associate professor of religion, chair of the Department of Religion in The College of Arts and Sciences and a historian of religions specializing in Islamic cultures, will share her insights into "The Kite Runner," a novel by Khaled Hosseini that is set in Afghanistan, Thursday, Dec. 7, at 5 p.m. in the Central Library's Curtin Auditorium. The library is located in The Galleries of Syracuse, 447 S. Salina St., and the lecture is free and open to the public.
The book is the CNY Reads Committee's 2006-07 choice for community discussion. It was also the selection of SU's Shared Reading Program this fall. Every first-year student received a copy of the book and has been encouraged to participate in community activities based on it.
CNY Reads promotes reading, research, discovery and a sharing of perspectives among Central New Yorkers by encouraging them to read the same book and participate in programs related to the content and themes of that book.
