Health Services anticipates delivery of additional flu vaccine

Hundreds of Syracuse University and SUNY College of Environmental Science and Forestry students, faculty and staff have received recently influenza vaccine from SU Health Services, culminating a round of vaccinations that began Oct. 18. While the initial supply of vaccine is exhausted, Health Services has ordered additional vaccine, which is expected to arrive in the coming weeks.

The Centers for Disease Control recommends that people in the following priority groups receive inactivated influenza vaccine (i.e., the "flu shot"): people ages 65 years and older, with and without chronic health conditions; residents of long-term care facilities; people ages 2-64 years with chronic health conditions; children ages 6-23 months; pregnant women; health-care personnel who provide direct patient care; and household contacts and out-of-home caregivers of children less than 6 months of age.
