University Union announced today that renowned comedian Bill Cosby will perform in Syracuse on Friday, Nov. 10, at 8 p.m. at the Landmark Theatre in downtown Syracuse. The stand-up comedy performance will be open to students, SU faculty and staff, and members of the Central New York community; transportation will be provided to take students between the Hildegarde and J. Myer Schine Student Center and the Landmark Theatre.
Presale tickets -- at $10 -- will be available to SU and SUNY College of Environmental Science and Forestry students Oct. 18-25 at the Schine Box Office. If seats remain after the student presale period, general ticket sales will begin Oct. 27 at the Schine Box Office, the Landmark Theatre Box Office and Ticketmaster.com. Student tickets ($10), $20 faculty/staff tickets and $30 general public tickets will be on sale at the Schine Box Office; other ticket sale venues will only have $30 tickets available. For ticket information, call (315) 443-4517.
"The success of last month's Landmark appearance by former Vice President Al Gore, in celebration of the Student Association's 50th anniversary, has prompted our student leaders to look for more opportunities to engage the University with the community," says Barry L. Wells, senior vice president and dean of student affairs. "By working together to bring such a legendary entertainer to Syracuse, our student groups have once again demonstrated their commitment to excellence." The Cosby appearance is co-sponsored by University Union -- a recognized student organization that provides large-scale programming for SU and SUNY-ESF undergraduate students -- as well as the National Pan-Hellenic Council and the Graduate Student Organization. Co-sponsors include the Division of Student Affairs and the Pulse performing arts program.
Cosby, best known for his role on the long-running NBC hit "The Cosby Show" (1984-92), will perform one of the stand-up comedy routines that has made him one of the most famous and well-liked comedians in history. University Union plans to host several related promotional contests for SU students leading up to his appearance.
