The College of Human Services and Health Professions (HSHP), together with the SU ROTC program and Recreation Services, will hold a campus-wide 5K walk/run/roll to promote a healthy campus.
The Syracuse University 5K will be held Saturday, Oct. 28, at 10 a.m. at the entrance to Archbold Gymnasium. People of all fitness levels and abilities are encouraged to participate and may run, walk or rollerblade. Open to all students, faculty and staff, the event is free, but pre-registration is requested. Registration forms are available at Archbold Gym and
online at http://hshp.syr.edu/Pdfs/05K%20flyer.pdf, and will also be available on the day of the race. The first 50 people to register will receive free T-shirts, and the first three finishers will receive gift certificates provided by Fleet Feet Sports. Other giveaways will be available.
The event is the brainchild of Jeff and Gina Pauline, assistant professors of sport management in HSHP, and Capt. Luis Gurri of ROTC. Students from the HTW 121 course in HSHP's Department of Health and Wellness and students in the Sport Management Club, the Triathalon Club, and the Running Club are organizing and staffing the event. A Healthy Monday activity, the event is also supported by Wal-Mart.
