Free tickets for the Thursday, Oct. 19, Syracuse Symposium event at Syracuse University featuring peace activist Cindy Sheehan and feminist scholar Cynthia Enloe are now available to the general public.
Sheehan and Enloe will speak at 7:30 p.m. in Hendricks Chapel as part of the 2006 Syracuse Symposium, "Imagination," presented by SU's College of Arts and Sciences. The event is free and open to the public, but tickets are required and may be obtained at the Schine Box Office, 443-4517. There is a limit of two tickets per person.
Sheehan is a founding member of the Gold Star Families for Peace and an activist opposed to the war in Iraq; Enloe is a feminist scholar who is known for her work on gender and militarization. The event is presented in cooperation with the 2006 Ray Smith Symposium on Feminism and
War (http://womens-studies.syr.edu/conferences.htm), Hendricks Chapel and the Women's Studies Program. Paid parking for the public on the evening of the event will be available in the Irving Garage.
The symposium is a semester-long intellectual and artistic festival that celebrates interdisciplinary thinking, imagination and creation. This year's theme is "Imagination." For more information on symposium events,
