The planning committee for the Martin Luther King Jr. Celebration is seeking new members from the Syracuse University community-students, faculty or staff.

The MLK Celebration Dinner will be held in the Carrier Dome on Saturday, Jan. 20, 2007, with an expected 2,000 people in attendance. The day will also include an event in the community and a seminar on campus with the celebration's keynote speaker.

Opportunities exist for members of the University community to help shape the evening program in the Carrier Dome, the community event and the seminar, and to take an active role in choosing the 2008 speaker. The committee meetings are a great way to get to know others from across the campus, while serving the community by contributing to one of the University's major annual events.

The committee welcomes participation from students, faculty and staff. Those interested in joining should contact Committee Chair Eric Holzwarth, deputy director of the Renee Crown University Honors Program, at 443-2759 or eholzwar@syr.edu.
