The overwhelming success of Syracuse University's South Side Innovation Center (SSIC) has made even more evident the need for high-quality, relevant business workshops for entrepreneurs and aspiring entrepreneurs. The SSIC's Enterprise Management Institute is now offering brown-bag workshops and classes over a nine-week period. The workshops began Sept. 20 and are held at noon in the Harriett McDowell Memorial Training Room, located at the SSIC headquarters, 2610 S. Salina St., Syracuse.

Workshop topics include "Thinking the Entrepreneurial Way," "Small Business Economics," "Stages of Financing," "Markets and Marketing" and "E-commerce." A team of faculty from the Whitman School of Management at SU leads the workshops.

"The SSIC has been such a tremendous success in such a short period of time," says Joe Dickson, business manager for the SSIC. "We opened in April and already have nine clients representing a broad spectrum of different ventures. So these workshops really come at a great time and fill the need not only of our clients but other members of the community who are eager to take their small business ideas to the next level."

The nine-week workshop is free to SSIC clients. For South Side Entrepreneurial Connect members, the cost is $50; for all others, the cost is $80. Some discounts and waived fees will be offered. Space is limited. To make reservations, contact Joe Dickson at (315) 443-8600 or dickson@syr.edu.
