The Syracuse Symphony Orchestra (SSO), a community partner with Syracuse University's Pulse, is offering specially priced tickets to the SU community for the opening performance of its 2006-07 season, a concert featuring singing star and SU alumna Vanessa Williams. The performance will take place Sept. 27 at 7:30 p.m. at the Landmark Theatre.

As an exclusive offer to the SU community, the SSO is offering tickets priced at $25 for students and $40 for faculty and staff. Availability is limited, so those interested are encouraged to call soon. The SSO Customer Service Center can be reached at 424-8200 or (800) 724-3810.

The gala opening night performance will be led by SSO Music Director Daniel Hege. Nine-time Grammy Award nominee Williams will perform some of her greatest hits alongside the SSO. From Broadway and R&B, to jazz and Top-40 ballads including "Colors of the Wind" and "Save The Best For Last," Williams is sure to begin the SSO's new season in grand fashion.

Immediately following the performance, concert-goers are encouraged to continue celebrating the opening of the SSO's new season by attending a post-concert reception with Hege and members of the orchestra. For tickets and more information on the reception, call the SSO Development Office at 424-8222 ext. 244.
