As part of the Syracuse University School of Education's yearlong centennial celebration, the Department of Instructional Design, Development and Evaluation (IDD&E) is hosting an informative and fun-filled event designed to bring together people from across campus and around the world. The "60 Years of Excellence" weekend celebration will be an opportunity for IDD&E faculty, alumni and friends to share ideas on IDD&E's curriculum. The program will take place on Friday and Saturday, Sept. 15-16, at the School of Education's Huntington Hall. Registration is required.
During the past 60 years, IDD&E has established a national and international reputation for excellence in areas of learning theory, instructional design and development, evaluation and distance education. Its graduates have taken positions in business and industry, government and higher education at institutions worldwide. Projects initiated by the faculty and students of IDD&E continue to build on this record of success and extend to all parts of the world.
The main events run through Saturday and include morning presentation and panel discussions covering "Celebrating the Past," "Identifying the Present" and "Anticipating the Future" of IDD&E. The afternoon and evening activities include current student and alumni poster sessions highlighting student projects and dissertation research, class project activities, internships and work with professional organizations. The Saturday events culminate in an evening of alumni presentations, storytelling, dining and celebration.
Event participants include IDD&E alumni from across the United States and around the
world. A group of professors and students from the Institute of Education at the University of Freiburg, Germany, will present current student projects in the areas of model-centered instruction and diagnosis of mental models. Fahad Saba, professor of educational technology at San Diego State University and IDD&E alumnus, will lead a panel discussion on "Anticipating the Future."
