Students enrolled in Syracuse University's Rose, Jules R. and Stanford S. Setnor School of Music will present recitals March 29 and 30. The recitals will be held in the Setnor Auditorium in the University's Crouse College and are free and open to the public.
Ericka L. Wilson, a junior music education major, will present a flute recital March 29 at 11 a.m. Her program will include Johann Joachim Quantz's "Trio Sonata in C Minor," Francis Poulenc's "Sonata for Flute and Piano," Eugene Bozza's "Image" and Gary Schocker's "Airborne." She will be accompanied by Mark Smith on piano and harpsichord, Laura Sutak on oboe and Chris Notarthomas on string bass.
Although primarily a flute player, Wilson enjoys doubling on other woodwind instruments and hopes to one day teach woodwinds in a University setting in addition to performing.
Graduate student Matthew Barlow will present a bass trombone recital March 30 at 2 p.m. His program will include contemporary music for the bass trombone with compositions by Ewazen, Diemer, Defaye, Presser and Tomasi. Accompanying Barlow will be Nancy Head on piano and organ, and trombonists Paul Ketchen, Jon Rossi and Justin Clark.
