Syracuse University's Office of Off-Campus Student Services will present its sixth-annual Off-Campus Student Housing Fair from 11 a.m.-4 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 19, at The Underground in the Hildegarde and J. Myer Schine Student Center.

The Housing Fair is designed to provide students considering an off-campus move for the 2007-08 academic year with access to the resources, information and encouragement to take advantage of the many opportunities available from living in the neighborhoods adjacent to the SU campus, as well as gain an understanding of their responsibilities as community members. This includes, but is not limited to, information about the types of housing available, services and resources available to assist students in making the transition to off-campus livin,g and opportunities to become more involved in community.

"Safety and cost are two important issues we will discuss at the fair," says Laura Madelone, director of SU's Office of Off-Campus Student Services. "In addition, students need to know their rights as tenants before they sign a lease. The Housing Fair has become a vital tool in helping students to understand their community and responsibilities while residing at off-campus locations."

Last year, the Off-Campus Student Housing Fair gave 250 students a chance to meet local landlords and learn about properties available, in addition to using resources for off-campus life. The event will include giveaways and prizes. For more information, contact the Office of Off-Campus Student Services at
