The Boys & Girls Clubs of Syracuse presented the Sport Management Club, a Syracuse University student group, with the 2006 Champion For Children Award at the directors meeting on June 20.
The student group received the award in recognition of its contribution to the Boys & Girls Clubs and support of the Clubs' mission in the community. In April, the Sport Management Club raised more than $10,000 for the Boys & Girls Clubs through a charity sports auction of more than 200 items obtained from nationally recognized professional and collegiate sports teams and players.
The Sport Management Club, operated by the Sport Management Program in SU's College of Human Services and Health Professions, provides a forum in which members learn about the sports industry, interact socially, and participate in community activities in order to explore learning opportunities.
