The Division of Student Affairs (DSA) is coordinating community service efforts at the new Vincent House Neighborhood Center, which benefits young children and teens from the southwest side of Syracuse by providing them with a safe and welcoming space for gathering, playing and learning.

On June 16, University staff and guests are invited to spend the day outdoors planting, raking, weeding and trimming. Volunteers are asked to meet at the center, located at 500 Seymour Ave., at 9 a.m., and will work throughout the day. Free parking is available, and lunch will be provided by the Team Against Bias. Volunteers are asked to bring gardening gloves, rakes and shovels.

Funding for new trees, mulch and flowers has been donated by SU students and staff. Department of Public Safety staff are providing equipment and landscaping services.

The Vincent House Neighborhood Center opened in spring 2005 at its renovated Seymour Avenue location on the southwest side of Syracuse.
