
George Winfield '56 plays piano as part of a performance during the Golden Anniversary Dinner on Friday, June 2, at Drumlins, part of this year's Reunion Weekend. The show was called "Memory Mix of '56."
Winfield earned his Ph.D., then taught at Howard University for 32 years, where he chaired the Department of Music. He has served as chapel organist at Howard University, and is now director of music at the Takoma Park Baptist Church in the Washington, D.C., area.
The Class of 1956 was the honored class during this year's Reunion Weekend. A highlight of the weekend was the Arents Dinner, during which Arents Pioneer Medals were awarded to Gerald B. Cramer '52, founder of Cramer Rosenthal & McGlynn LLC; David M. Crane L'80, former chief prosecutor of the Special Court for Sierra Leone; Ali Khalif Galaydh G'69, G'72, former prime minister of Somalia; and Kathrine V. Switzer '68, G'72, the first woman to officially complete the Boston Marathon.
