John Gerlach II, a senior aerospace engineering major in the L.C. Smith College of Engineering and Computer Science, prepares his team's airplane for takeoff in the Carrier Dome on April 27.

For their senior projects, aerospace students were required to design and build a radio-controlled aircraft. On that day, the students were challenged to fly their planes and carry a maximum number of golf balls from one end of the Carrier Dome to the other on a single battery charge.
