Syracuse University's College of Visual and Performing Arts will present "Glimmerglass Opera in Concert: A Barber, Pirates, Passion... and More!" on Tuesday, May 2 at 8 p.m. The performance, featuring members of the opera's acclaimed Young American Artists program, will present excerpts from the 2006 festival season and other popular operas in the Rose and Jules R. Setnor Auditorium in Crouse College. The performance is free and open to the public; no tickets are required. Parking is available in Irving Garage.
The program will include semi-staged arias and ensembles from this summer's productions of Gilbert and Sullivan's "The Pirates of Penzance," Rossini's "The Barber of Seville," Janayek's "Jenyfa" and the world premiere of Stephen Hartke and Philip Littell's "The Greater Good."
Performers include soprano Katherine Skemp, mezzo-soprano Margaret Gawrysiak, tenor Chester Pidduck, baritone Scott Dispensa and pianist Brian DeMaris. R.B. Schlather is stage director.
