The Department of Entrepreneurship and Emerging Enterprises in the Martin J. Whitman School of Management at Syracuse University will hold its semiannual Capstone Business Plan Competition April 27 and 29.
This year, more than 35 teams are competing to develop an original business concept and write a comprehensive business plan for that concept. On April 27, the teams will present their plans before judging panels that include entrepreneurs, venture capitalists and others from the entrepreneurial community in Central New York. Based on the judges' assessment, four teams will be selected to compete in the final round on April 29. First-, second- and third-place prizes will be awarded, ranging from $100 to $500. Top finishers will also earn the chance to represent the Whitman School at national business plan competitions.
"The Capstone Competition is the opportunity for graduating Whitman seniors to demonstrate all that they have learned over the course of their studies here," says Michael Morris, the Chris J. Witting Chair in Entrepreneurship. "Every undergraduate student competes before they graduate. They must step to the plate and demonstrate a mastery of all facets of business."
