On April 27, student filmmakers in the College of Visual and Performing Arts' Department of Transmedia will have their work screened in "Video Now," part of the Everson Museum of Art's Contemporary Film Series. This is the seventh year that the Everson has collaborated with Professor of Transmedia Studies Tom Sherman and student filmmakers in VPA.
"Video Now" includes a compilation of fresh, original and experimental short videos. Screenings begin at 7 p.m. in the Everson's Hosmer Auditorium, 401 Harrison St., and run roughly 90 minutes. The program is free and open to the public.
"For the museum, 'Video Now' is a meaningful way to support and present to the general public the work of emerging young artists," says Pam McLaughlin, curator of education at the Everson. "The screening continues to be the highlight of each year's Contemporary Film Series."
The Contemporary Film Series at the Everson screens contemporary independent film and video in both feature lengths and experimental shorts that cover a broad range of cinematic styles and themes. The Contemporary Film Series is made possible with public funds from the New York State Council for the Arts.
The Everson is open to the public Tuesday-Friday and Sunday noon-5 p.m., and Saturday 10 a.m.-5 p.m. Admission is free, with a suggested donation of $5 per person. For more information, contact the Everson at 474-6064 or
