March 19, 2002

The Joe and Emily Lowe Art Gallery at Syracuse University presents the annual "Master of Fine Arts Exhibition," March 30 through April 23, 2002. An opening reception for the exhibition will be held from 7 to 8:30 p.m. March 30 in the Shaffer Galleria.

"The Master of Fine Arts Exhibition" celebrates the accomplishments of eight School of Art and Design graduate students who are approaching the completion of their studies. The exhibition not only serves as the crowning achievement for the MFA degree candidates but also highlights the quality, depth and diversity of studies undertaken by students in the MFA program. The exhibition features more than 100 works in a variety of media including ceramics, fibers, mixed media, painting, photography and sculpture. Each artist contributed a self-selected body of work. The works are indicative of each artist's growth and achievements at Syracuse University.

The exhibition was organized by the students in the Graduate Program in Museum Studies under the guidance of Bradley Hudson, acting director of the Lowe Art Gallery. The exhibition is supported by the Office of the Assistant Dean for Graduate Student Services, the College of Visual and Performing Arts and the Graduate Student Organization.

The Joe and Emily Lowe Art Gallery is located in the Shaffer Art Building at Syracuse University, is handicapped accessible, and is free and open to the public. Gallery hours are Tuesday through Sunday, noon - 5 p.m., and Wednesday, noon to 8 p.m. For further information, call (315) 443-3127.
