Renowned pianist Peter Frankl, professor of piano at the Yale School of Music, will perform at 8 p.m. April 2 in Syracuse University's Rose and Jules R. Setnor Auditorium in Crouse College. The concert, part of the University's Setnor Tuesday Night Concert Series, is free and open to the public.
Frankl will perform works by Beethoven, Janacek, Bartok and Chopin. Frankl made his London debut in 1962 and his New York debut with the Cleveland Orchestra under George Szell in 1967. Since then, he has performed as a soloist with virtually all the major orchestras and conductors in the world, including the Berlin Philharmonic, the major London orchestras, Concertgebouw, the Vienna Symphony and major orchestras in the United States.
His highly praised recordings include the complete works for piano by Schumann and Debussy and more recently, a solo Bartok and Chopin recording, a Hungarian Anthology, a Mozart concerti with members of the English Chamber Orchestra and the complete 4-hand works by Mozart. In recognition of his artistic achievements, the Hungarian Republic awarded Frankl the Order of Merit in 1996.
