Suzanne Prevost, professor and National Healthcare Chair of Excellence in Nursing at Middle Tennessee State University, will speak on "Evidence Based Nursing Practice" April 24 from 6-8 p.m. in the Public Events Room, Room 220 of Eggers Hall. Her talk is part of the annual Judith Anne Evers Memorial Lecture Series, hosted by Syracuse University's School of Nursing. A reception will follow the lecture. The event is approved for 1.5 continuing education units (CEU).
Prevost's research on nursing excellence in long-term care institutions focuses on end-of-life issues, pain management and hospice care. She is the author of more than 100 journal articles, book chapters, abstracts and consumer-focused information. A current Virginia Henderson Fellow, she is the secretary of Sigma Theta Tau International, the nursing honor society. She earned a nursing diploma from South Side Hospital in Pittsburgh; a bachelor's degree in nursing from Villa Maria College; a master's degree in nursing from the Medical University of South Carolina; and a Ph.D. from Texas Woman's University.
The Judith Anne Evers Lecture memorializes the professional life of Evers, a former member of the College of Nursing faculty who earned both bachelor's (1974) and master's (1975) degrees at SU. Throughout her career, Evers set the highest standards for her own performance and that of the programs and projects she led in the SU community. The lecture series is made possible through the support of David Evers, the Evers family, Dorothy McCaffrey and others.
The event is free and open to the public. Free parking will be available in Irving Garage;
